· Does Caledonian
Kitchen Haggis contain any additives such as MSG, Preservatives, or Soy
extenders?
NO. Our haggis is
made with high quality ingredients like USDA Choice Sirloin beef. There
is no reason to try to cheapen our product or to "make do" with lesser
quality ingredients. As a result of our attention to quality, there are
no flavor enhancers or other miracles of modern food chemistry needed
in our haggis.
· How many people
will a 14 oz. can serve?
Depends on the people
and what is being served with the haggis. With scrambled eggs, a 14 oz.
can will serve 4. With Neeps and Tatties, the Laird has a can to himself!
As an appetizer on a cracker, maybe 6-8 people or one Laird!
· Is the Presentation Haggis the only one that comes in a casing?
Yes. Our range includes a 4lb. and 8lb. haggis. Both come fully cooked and frozen in
a high quality artificial fibrous casing with heating instructions. The fibrous casing stands up
well to shipping and re-heating. In addition, any leftover haggis can
be re-frozen.
· What is the shelf
life of your canned haggis?
The Inspector gave
our haggis a minimum 5-year shelf life. It is classified as a stable meat
product. According to the USDA we were the first people to ever produce
a canned haggis in America! We will refund your money if our haggis hangs
around your house that long!

necessary to become a member of our Haggis Clan.

Other
Questions
· Is The Caledonian
Kitchen a store or is it just an online business?
Both. We are an Internet
business that has grown from the Texas Scottish Festival in Arlington,
Texas. We have been the featured food vendor for the past 11 years. As
our business has grown, we are appearing at other Scottish Festivals and
in Scottish shops all across America. See the list and
links to our retailers to our site, so you can buy locally.
· Where are you
located?
The Laird O Tha Haggis
resides in the Dallas, Texas area while his busy Factors warehouse and
ship from Natchitoches, Louisiana which is in Central Louisiana. You may
remember it from the movie, "Steel Magnolias". We recommend you visit
www.natchitoches.net to see this unique place. The haggis is actually
produced in a USDA Inspected facility in southern Ohio!
· Can The Caledonian
Kitchen come to our Festival or Clan Gathering?
Contact us for details.
Our four teams of direct sales reps covered over 50 events during 2005! We are beginning to cover more and more festivals through our retailers
and festival vendors. We travel throughout the country to both
support our vendors as well as vending ourselves. We are currently developing
a program for Festival Committees to sell our haggis as a fundraiser for
their festival. We offer some easy consignment terms with total return
of unsold product. See our Calendar
of Events
· What is Irn-Bru?
Irn Bru is the "National
Soft Drink of Scotland". Scots drink it like we drink Coca-Cola here in
the USA. It is a citrus tasting cream soda. Until recently, the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration have forbidden import of Irn-Bru because of one
of the red food dyes. The company has created an American version and
it is now beginning to show up in a few places like ours. The legally
approved Irn-Bru comes in 16.9 oz (500ml) plastic bottles.
· May I submit
your name to my neighborhood British Shop or market?
By all means! You
will be forever revered by the Laird!
· Can you ship
Neeps?
Yes! Neeps or rutabagas
as they are known here are primarily sold in the South. If you live in
a part of the country that does not stock these in your grocery store,
we will be glad to ship them to you. Never try to use any turnip other
than a rutabaga.
